The smart home provides the owners of the home with security, comfort, convenience and energy efficiency by allowing them to control smart devices. This is often done by a smart home app on their smart phone or with some other networked devices like computer.

Common home automation protocols
The newly built houses often constructed with home automation infrastructure. Also in older houses, on the other hand, can retrofitted with smart technologies. There are two types of the most common home automation communication protocols are available. They are:

- Z-wave

As though both the protocols target with the same smart home applications, Zigbee has a range of 10meters whereas the Z-wave has 30meters to cover. There are many advantages present in smart home or home automation technologies. Likewise, there are some cons of home automation is also present in it. They are:

This ranges at the top of all other products. Buying smart devices to your home with a high range is not a good decision financially.
- The most dangerous place in the world is online.
So connecting of devices to the internet brings cybercriminals into the play. There are no secure methods to encrypt your network.
- Voice command is not the best authorization feature available in smart home devices.
There is a possibility of anyone can operate the device by voice command. It leads to some drawbacks like anyone can buy things through voice command without your knowledge.
- As all the devices are connected with the internet, it just needs a more amount of data to be used.
This may also a lead to buy new hardware too which comes under the cons of smart homes.
- All come under one platform.
The smart assistants are not compatible with every smart product. So make sure that a smart assistant limits your choices of appliances.
